Our Mission

We will provide support, encouragement, information, exercise and enabling activities for stroke survivors and their families and represent and respond to their needs.

We understand the impact of stroke and aim to alleviate psychological trauma and enhance coping and adjustment.

Enablement

We focus on strengths and capacity, and work with stroke survivors (and families) to optimize physical, social, and emotional functioning, health, and wellbeing.

Person Centred Care

We recognise that everyone’s stroke experience is unique and we value members input in shaping CSS activities that respond to individual needs.

Trust

We build trust through honest, sensitive communication and non-judgmental interactions.

We have a positive and caring impact on our stroke survivors and their families.

Our Aims

The aim of Cork Stroke Support is to

  • Facilitate sharing of information.
  • Provide support and encouragement in an open and relaxed environment.
  • Organize activities with emphasis on enjoyment and social engagement.
  • Encourage independence through exercise and enabling activities.
  • Represent the needs of Stroke Survivors.
